Arts Sessions for All

Can arts benefit the people you work with or your community? We provide arts sessions to places such as Schools, Youth Groups, Work Places and Care Settings.

At the moment, our current programme focuses on the performing arts however we have more art forms being added. If you have a specific art form in mind, we may still be able to help via our pool of artists so please do get in touch!

KS1-4 Dance for Schools

We support schools with their dance requirements by providing Arts Point Artists who deliver high quality lessons.

We can help schools extend their dance provision, get their least active pupils moving, enhance curricular learning, meet PE requirements and much more.

Educating Dance (a programme of cross-curricular dance originally curated by The Right Step Dance Company) and Mindful Moving (a well being project to support pupils) are both available exclusively at Arts Point.

From Nursery to Year 11, all of the lessons are tailored to the group and, because we house a team of teachers, we can help with a huge range of things. We are inclusive in our approach and are happy to talk to you about the various needs your pupils may have.

Dance for adults:

Dance has a very positive impact on all adult’s health and well being. We work with people of all ages including older adults living in care homes.

We offer Chair Based Exercise (CBE), Circle Dance, Zumba Gold, Clubbercise and other licenced dance styles with specially trained AP Artists. We also provide Intergenerational dance and dance for events.

The sessions are inclusive and can be provided for all types of settings including residential homes, retirement or care homes and day centres, specialising in low impact and seated exercise and dance for adults and older as adults as well as dance for fitness.

These adult dance lessons have featured on the BBC multiple times (view one documentary here), in various newspapers, and as part of events across Kent and Medway. Arts Point works with large charities such as Age UK and Kent Association for the Blind as well as individual care homes.

Active Armchairs

AP Artists are specially trained to become Active Armchairs Facilitators and all have current Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) training and are Dementia Friends.

Well being is very important to us all, at Barton court we try and personalise activities as much as we can to the individual. Active Armchairs is suitable for all abilities to join in. For some this may be just observing, but still feeling part of the event as joining in with the music. Everyone knows how important music is to people living with dementia, so this has been a key part as well.”

Elaine, Activities Co-ordinator – Barton Court Care Home Ltd.

She doesn’t usually like to join in activities so it’s just brilliant to see her dancing with the scarf.”

Carer – Winchester House

One to One

Movement for those who are unable to leave their room. They prevent loneliness and encourage movement. The varied sessions could include sensory elements, conversation and music.

Social Dance

For groups that already meet regularly or we can create a group for you. Often run at retirement homes or in sheltered housing, social dance groups evolve with the group so they come in many forms including with a fitness focus, performance, or of a certain dance style.

– Standing, seated or a combination of both

– Low impact dance

– For fun and fitness

– Combats loneliness

Active Armchairs Facilitators receive additional training to provide these sessions and, the sessions can also include elements of dance styles such as Zumba Gold, Circle Dance and Clubbercise.
